10 south west champions for Honiton Gymnastics Club

Honiton gymnast returned from the recent South West Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships with no less than 10 partnerships crowned as regional champions.

Held at two venues – Yate International Gymnastics Centre near Bristol, and Honiton Leisure Centre – the championships saw clubs from as far north as Gloucester and as far south as Newquay competing for honours.

In addition to the club’s ten gold medals, Honiton gymnasts also brought home 12 silvers and five bronzes.

“It was an exceptional couple of weekends for Honiton Gymnastics Club,” said Helen Reddy, high performance coach at the club, “and a real privilege to win so many top honours. Our gymnasts not only put in high-quality performances, but also we entered a bigger team than ever before – giving more young gymnasts the chance to perform in front of judges and show off the skills they have learned.”

The top score of the championships by a Honiton partnership was by Grade 1 mixed pair Hallie Bennett (just six-years-old) and her partner Kian Thomas, who scored 27.30 out of 30. This was closely followed by Grade 3 women’s pair Kiera Bonetta and Phoebe Boland-Davies who scored 27.29.
