Update on premises, Christmas closures & invitation to QUIZ NIGHT on 10 January 2019
Dear parents
It’s been tough over the past few weeks, and we have been working constantly in the background (alongside British Gymnastics, East Devon District Council and others) to find a short-term premises solution.
We are focussing on securing space where we can not only leave equipment out for our competition level gymnasts but also get our Turbo Toddlers, Adult Gym, Gym-Crazy Kids, Recreational and PAYG sessions back up and running as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, every solution seems to include another hurdle or problem (including expected alternative facilities not being suitable from a health and safety perspective and/or lengthy processes to gain change-of use for buildings etc). However, we are making progress in a number of areas and are confident that Honiton Gymnastics Club will have more short-term solutions early in 2019 and long-term plans that we can tell you more about as the year progresses. Please be patient if you are in any of the above groups that are not yet training – we will keep all place open for gymnasts and let you know as soon as we have a solution.
We’ll try our best to keep everyone informed where possible, but hope you appreciate that we have many ‘exciting opportunities’ that are found not to be possible and could end up causing further disappointment to gymnasts if these opportunities don’t see the light of day. We will, therefore, continue to wait until information and plans are confirmed before passing on specific details to all members. This means that information should only be relied upon if it has officially been emailed out to you from Honiton Gymnastics Club’s Board.
SIGN UP FOR THE BIG QUIZ NIGHT!
In the meantime, alongside this, we need everyone’s continued support to ensure our 360 recreational gymnasts can get back training as soon as possible and that we are also in a position to move forward with a fixed-premises solution when all of the background work has been done.We will therefore be looking to raise the profile of the club (including a six-month campaign in the Midweek Herald) and pick up our fundraising efforts to help with a long-term solution. The first big event is a team quiz night hosted by our Supporters’ Association – BATTLE OF THE MINDS – at the Beehive on Dowell Street on Thursday 10 January (7pm-9.30pm). It’s open to teams of up to six people and will be a great chance to support the club, meet up with friends and win prizes! Open to all adults (aged 18+), the night is £5 entry per person and the evening includes a Cash Bar.
Please show your support for Honiton Gymnastics Club by signing up for the event and bringing along as many friends and family as you can. To book your place, email event organiser Joanna Blackmore on rblackmore892@btinternet.
com or contact her on 07870 983654. Please sign up as soon as possible so Jo can cater for numbers. We’ve attached the event flyer with more info.
Monthly fees – January correction
For those in competition groups, for December’s fees we took into account the sessions that gymnasts have missed due to our current circumstances and changed payment requests in accordance with this. This worked for some groups, but unfortunately the payments reverted back to normal on PaySubsOnline (now LoveAdmin.com) for some other groups. Please be assured that if your payment didn’t reduce by the appropriate amount this will be taken off your January fees. We will also send separate emails to all groups at the beginning of January with an explanation for any fee reductions. Our apologies for any incorrect amounts charged in December.Christmas closure dates for competition groups
Training for competition groups will not take place on the following dates:
Monday 24 December
Wednesday 26 December
Monday 31 December
Wednesday 2 January
Training will be on at all other times unless you receive specific notifications of a change.
Clothing collections
Club Clothing that has already been ordered is available for collection from the community college gym all week at any time during sessions.
Many thanks for your continued support and we hope to see you at The Beehive on 10 January.
Best wishes
Honiton Gymnastics Club Board and Supporters Association
